What a Great
Year, I Think!
My cage was
rattled quite vigorously last April. That’s when we found out that my wife
needed surgery on her brain. As brain surgery goes, hers was very easy and
simple for the surgical team but, it was still brain surgery. Apprehension made
the next two weeks drag by until the scheduled day.
She had no
post-op complications and very few instances of pain and the doctor predicted
100% recovery. She was released two days later with instructions on how she had
to live for the next six weeks and guess who was given the responsibility to
make sure this single minded, stubborn and (somewhat) peevish wife of mine,
stayed on the program as instructed. And, as she left the room, the Charge
Nurse looked at me, snickered and said good luck, which she punctuated with a
laugh.
Perhaps the most
difficult instruction was, no bending beyond the waist. Simple, right? When you
are up and around (at home), try it. I had to hover over her to keep her from
bending, which turned on her peevish quality into a high state of discontent
which I bore as sharp darts coming at me in supersonic sorties.
When the six
weeks of healing was over, we headed for the doctors interview which provided
exactly what I wanted to hear. All clear! Back to normal routine! My wife was
delighted to be back to normal and I was ecstatic with relief. She was healed
and I was free!
A couple of
weeks later we were off to the Ohio Bash hosted by Ohio Chef and her husband.
Sharing presiding responsibilities were Chef Louigi (Left) and Chef Juan Carlos (Right)
